New Beginnings. New Life.

One of the biggest challenges when you're new to a youth group is getting connected. It can be kind of confusing and frustrating trying to figure out how to get plugged in. Listed below are some opportunities that we feel can help you in becoming a part of what we do here. We hope this helps, and really look forward to having you as part of our ministry!

- Attend Sunday night CHAOS -
This is a big part of what we do. It gives you the opportunity to relax and just play some games, have some meaningful discussions, and worship. A big suggestion we have is that if you are uncomfortable coming by yourself the first time, bring a friend. We love seeing new faces, and will do our best to make sure you feel like youth is a place where you can come to get away from your everyday problems and stresses and be immersed in a welcoming and spiritual environment.

- Join us for small groups on Sunday mornings -
This is a much more toned down time on Sunday mornings at 9:15AM in the senior high room and junior high room, located on the second floor of the education building. You can join us for some time to discuss scripture and issues we deal with in our lives. This is a good opportunity to be part of a smaller group than on Sunday nights.

- Sign up for the basketball team -
We are part of a church basketball league in the Fort Worth area. If you are a basketball player, or even just want to have fun, this is a great opportunity to get plugged in. The league happens in the Spring semester, and is a fantastic way to meet people in the youth group through working as a team, having fun, and really getting connected. Please contact Todd Treat for more information about the basketball league. todd@genesisumc.com

- Summer CTCYM Mission Trip -
Our annual summer mission trip with the Central Texas Conference Youth Ministry is always such a special event for everyone that goes. Throughout the week, you will be working with a team of about 7 to 10 other people, and developing a very deep connection through your work and service. Anyone wanting to really get involved in the Genesis youth ministry would definitely benefit from being part of this life-changing experience.

- Work at the Coffee Shop -
The new building is bringing with it a new coffee shop that will be serving all of your favorite coffee shop beverages. We will need youth to help run it on Sunday mornings and for other special events. So if you are interested in becoming a Barista for our coffee shop, this would be a good way to get to know people and interact with a lot of the church members.

- Become part of the sound team -
Sound and video can be one of the most critical parts of any worship service. If you have a passion for video and sound, this would be a great place to get plugged in. There are monthly classes held, in order to train the team in making each Sunday morning service look professional and tight. If this is something you'd be interested in, contact Trey Smith. trey@genesisumc.com

- Join the Youth Praise Band -
Do you have a talent for playing an instrument or singing? Being part of the praise band is a great way to meet people and worship God while doing something you love to do already. Contact Trey Smith for more information. trey@genesisumc.com

- Come talk to a youth ministries staff member -
If you seem to be having trouble getting plugged in, please don't hesitate to come talk to any of the youth ministries staff at any time. We would love to sit down with you and explore ways that we can get you plugged in here!
