Children
The Children’s Sunday School at GUMC provides Biblical education each Sunday morning for children ages 3 years through 6th grade. We currently utilize an interactive curriculum, which brings the Biblical concepts to life utilizing hands on activities, videos, and discussion.
Children’s Worship thematically follows the sermon series at traditional and contemporary services. Children ages 4 through 3rd grade are invited to meet in room 60 for an interactive, age appropriate worship experience from 10:45-11:30. We meet every Sunday, excluding the first Sunday of the month, to allow all families to worship and share communion together.
Infants and toddlers are cared for by a loving staff of caregivers in Children’s Alley during worship services and special events.
Acolytes are an important part of Genesis worship leaders. These are 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who have made a commitment to serving in this special role. Trainings are twice a year.
Genesis is proud to provide space for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. We support students at Meadow Creek Elementary by providing snack packs and other needs throughout the year. Our Great Room has been used by many other schools for events and activities. Our congregation is a great supporter of children at United Community Centers.

Students
Every Sunday night from 4-6 PM, students in 7th-12th grade are welcome to join us for CHAOS (Creating Holy Adventures On Sundays) where we do a variety of activities that keep you entertained and stimulated from beginning to end. Each week we play games followed by small group discussions, and close with a snack supper provided by youth families. Bring your friends and catch the craziness! Youth are also invited to join us for open gym at 4pm in the Great Room.
All 6th-12th graders are invited to join us on Wednesday nights from 6:30-7:30pm to participate in a church-supported mission project or special study. Each week, this group will volunteer to aid one of our many missions here at Genesis or do a creative study on a variety of pop culture topics. Bring your friends and check it out!
Engage is our confirmation program for eighth graders or those willing to go through the class. In this one semester class, students will learn the fundamentals of the Methodist Belief as well as how to organize an informed opinion about scripture. Once the course is completed, the students will be “confirmed” and made into full members of the church. Engage meets in room 209 on the second floor of the Education building.
Every Sunday morning at 9:20 AM, teens will meet to engage in relevant, discussion based curriculum that challenges them to think outside the box about their faith and how they can influence the community and the world with what they learn. Sixth and seventh graders will meet for Jr. High Breakout upstairs in the Education Building. Those in 8th Grade will also be a part of Jr. High Breakout until December. Beginning in January, all eighth graders are invited to join our Engage Confirmation Program. Our Sr. High, those in grades 9-12, will meet up-stairs in the Sr. High room, which overlooks the Great Room.
Adults
Through the practice of Intentional Faith Development, we do the soul work that connects us to others, immerses us in God’s Word, and positions us to grow in grace and mature in Christ. We place ourselves in the most advantageous circumstances to learn and grow in our following of Christ. We cooperate with the Holy Spirit in our own spiritual maturation.
Is the Bible dry, boring, and irrelevant? We don’t think so! The Bible is filled with priceless treasure hidden in plain sight – our mission is to search it out, mine its meaning, and bring its mysterious beauty to light for everyone. Our way of experiencing it is more like archeology done by Indiana Jones! The group meets in room 111.
This is a Bible study group for women that meet in our old library to discuss Biblical stories and how they impact daily life.
Faith Matters embraces a wide variety of ages and has both married and single persons. Each week, the group discusses Biblical based studies that are relevant to everyday life. The group meets in Room 21.
Music Ministry
Contemporary Christian music is the focus of this band led by our Fusion Worship Leader. If you play guitar, drums, bass, or sing and would like more information about this group, don’t hesitate to let Eddie Kahler know.
